Pelvic Release Work

A woman to woman educational exploration of your individual pelvic goods

Every woman has a pelvic story.

What is pelvic releasework?

Pelvic release work is a gentle session to help alleviate pelvic discomfort and create insight throughout the pelvic space. This work is about inviting women to open up, to be heard and for women to experience gentle non-judgemental touch.

Women come to find answers. To feel understood. To take power back.

Come for a woman-to-woman educational pelvic exploration session today.

“The pelvis is the cradle of our power.”

Three wise bodyworkers, Fiona Hallinan, Andrea Lopez and Jenny Blyth, introduced to me to internal and external release work. This work has ignited a deep passion for womens work that I wish to share with women.

Since 2018 I have worked with a multitude of women from all walks of life through my work at a tertiary hospital birthsuite, as a Calmbirth educator and in a midwifery group practice. I have learnt from women sharing stories about grief, tenderness, frustration, pain, shame, guilt, regret and sadness. Their bravery to share their stories has allowed me to grow build my skills and passion. My passion is in empowering, advocating and educating by using these techniques taught from the wise bodyworkers, ongoing research and day-to-day experiences.

The pelvic tissues and structures have such crucial roles and should be treated with upmost respect. The goal of release work in pregnancy is to prepare, soften and soothe pelvic discomfort, reduce the pushing phase of labour and ultimately alleviate tension for a woman.

Lets learn about your pelvic goods together.

Frequently asked questions

  • Internal pelvic release work (IPRW) is a gentle therapy that encourages talk through the pelvic floor structures to release tension and assist in realigning the pelvis. This therapy works through soft touch on muscles, ligaments, tendons, fascia and bony structures. This touch allows blood, energy, circulation and hormones to readily flow. The pelvic floor can be accessed externally however, more directly through the back wall of the vagina.

Unlike most other reasons to assess a vaginal function or health eg PAP smears, vaginal exams, pelvic floor assessments - IPRW has no expectations, deliberate goals or agendas. It allows the tissues to feel held, safe and ultimately alleviate tension held.

  • Generally, if you are a female with a uterus and looking at this page at this page then it is right for you. Every pelvic has a story; the good, the bad and the ugly. If you are experiencing pelvic discomfort, curious about your goods, a postnatal mother or wanting to ease the labour process then IPRW is for you.

  • The 2 hour consultation involves an in-depth conversation about personal and medical history, expectations, education and ongoing self-care. This is followed by external and internal release work. The consultation is held in a private, calm, non-judgemental environment or in the safety of your own home. The treatment is performed on a massage table with cushions used to assist in hip comfort.  A sarong is used as a privacy cover and hand hygiene with gloves use is used to ensure the safety of both parties. A natural coconut oil is used as a lubricant if consenting to IPRW. All release work is done with ongoing consent and can be withdrawn at any time.

  • The aim for IPRW is to allow the soft tissues of the pelvis to soften and allow the body to continue unravelling over the next few weeks after the session. Ultimately the release work should only take one or two sessions depending on your individual story.

  • Ideally, for your comfort IPRW is best done when you are not bleeding. Women often feel more sensitive and vulnerable when bleeding.

Please contact to discuss if our session falls on a day when you are bleeding, spotting or unable to change your appointment, some exceptions can be made depending on your personal comfort.
